LUPIN, Learning Culture through Play to Imagine and Build New Worlds, explores how young people (12–25) experience and reinterpret cultural heritage in a virtualising world. By comparing digital games, traditional role-playing, and European comics, the project investigates how these practices shape identity and belonging.
Through co-creation labs that connect youth, cultural institutions, and game studios, LUPIN transforms archives and collections into living experiences. The outcome is a hybrid game that blends pen-and-paper mechanics with digital extensions and augmented reality in museums.
Developed in three phases—research, prototyping, and large-scale testing—LUPIN makes cultural heritage accessible both in museums and at home. More than a game, it is a collaborative platform for reflection, youth engagement, and democratic participation in Europe’s heritage.
We would like to highlight the remarkable commitment of all consortium members, who came together on several occasions to refine this proposal. Their collective willingness to share insights and improve the idea step by step made it possible to shape LUPIN into a stronger and more coherent project.
